How bad is this friend zone?

This girl I like is going to prom with someone (it was a joke the other guy took seriously when she asked him) but she was talking to me about if us dating it'd be weird because I'm like a brother to her. So I cant go to prom with her and they're dating and I'm the brotherly friend, how screwed am I? Do I have any real chances here to escape the friend Zone?
